One of the best cities you will find in Victoria is Shepparton. It is located 181 kilometres northeast of Melbourne. Shepparton is a great place for a day trip or even a holiday away from the city.

KidsTown – Adventure Playground

Kids Town Adventure Playground is one of the best playgrounds in regional Victoria. 

KidsTown – Adventure Playground is a five-acre playground, with giant slides, mazes, a miniature railway, play spaces, a large sandpit, swings, treehouses, and endless fun. The playground is fully fenced and is mostly undercover so you won’t need to worry about your kids spending hours in the sun. 

For the grown-ups, there are also BBQ facilities. The area is also safe for children of all ages and disabilities, and their facilities are very family-friendly. Plus, they have wheelchair-accessible equipment.

Entry is a gold coin per person. 

Got a birthday coming up? You can host parties at various sites like the Dairy Maze Dock for $35 per day, Furphy’s Picnic and Play at $90 per day, the Wagon Domain at $64 a day for 20-30 people. 

Shepparton Moooving Art

Take some pictures with the animal sculptures in the Shepparton Moooving Art. AT Shepparton Moooving Art you will see 90 fibre-glass cows beautifully painted. 

The outdoor museum is a great art installation, with a beautiful outdoor for families to enjoy.

If you have ever wondered why there are so many cow sculptures around the area, the place actually showcases and celebrates the local dairy enterprises in Shepparton; and that’s what it is all about. You will also be surprised how your kids’ favourite superheroes are parading as a moo-cow which sets the authenticity and the creativity of the Shepparton Moooving Art. 

The Outdoor Museum is a public place that can be enjoyed by locals and tourists, and everything is free. Up for a good picnic spot while taking snaps to fill in your empty picture frames? Then the Shepparton Moooving Art is one for the books!

Aquamoves

Aquamoves is a great place to go for a swim all year round. In the summer there is a 50-metre outdoor pool and in winter there is a 25m indoor heated pool.

Aquamoves has fitness programs, splash parks, a sauna, spas and a hydrotherapy pool. 

They also have classes to teach kids and adults how to swim, catering to all swimming abilities of all ages. If you’re already know how to swim and want to have some fun they have a leisure pool with waterslides. 

The aquatic entry is priced at $2 for non-swimmers, $6.50 for adult swimmers, $4.30 for child swimmers, $8.50 for the Adult Swim/Spa/Sauna, and $6.50 for their Hydrotherapy pool. For the programs, prices may vary every week for varying lessons. 

Belstack Strawberry Farm

Shepparton’s farming industry is simply one of the best in Australia, and who would not want to pick their usual strawberry straight from the strawberry vines? 

The Belstack Strawberry Farm is a good place for your family where you can enjoy picking strawberries as much as you want and nibble the sweetest and juiciest strawberries in town. If you want more, you might also love their strawberry sundaes, coffee, strawberry milkshakes, jams and creams, and waffles too. The Belstack Strawberry Farm is simply a haven for strawberry lovers, and you’ll get to experience harvesting your favourite fruit by hand. Kids can also play in the sandpits, play mini-golf, and look for turtles and fish in the river. 

Still, if you enjoy roaming around the farm, you can also do an overnight stay. Yet, the farm is only open during harvest seasons, November, March, and April at most, and closed during the winter. If you ever get the chance to visit Shepparton during these months, might as well add the Belstack Strawberry Farm to your list.

No need for entrance fees to get to the farm itself, just pay for the goods that you have picked and you’re good to enjoy the freshest and sweetest strawberries!

Shepparton Art Museum (SAM)

The museum is a home for cultural heritage and the greatest arts in Shepparton. They showcase artworks from different walks of life, and mostly about the usual business in the area; agriculture. If you want to get your hands on some crafts, you may also join their Thrown Ceramics class for a fun pottery-making activity, draw with pencils with their Sketch Workshop, and even get some paint on with their Drawing Wall #39. Now, who said museums are boring? Time to rethink.

Shepparton Regional Park

The park is a vast landscape of trees and bushes, perfect for families who want to go camping out with their kids. Over the weekend, you can trek and go on top of the hills to see the sunrise, or maybe just enjoy stargazing during the coolness and the darkness of the night. What sets this area apart from the others is your experience in nature, and you may even want to try canoeing and fishing during the day.

The Shepparton Regional Park is open to all, and dogs are allowed inside. No entrance fees in the park as well so you can go whenever you want. 

Historical Society of Mooroopna Inc.

Getting to Shepparton without being complete without being able to immerse yourself in the history of the place. The Historical Society of Mooroopna Inc. gives you an educational experience on what Shepparton was like before everything else was built.

A great historical display for visitors, the Historical Society of Mooroopna Inc. gives you a quick tour of the historical displays to restore and preserve the background of Mooroopna and the neighbouring cities and suburbs as well. The display exhibits the ingenuity of the people of Mooroopna, providing you with a closer look at Fruit Picking ladders and Blood Transfer Machines, and a whole lot more. Nevertheless, you will also be escorted to a gallery full of the important people of the place and the background of their significance. 

The tour is only $5, and it’s very cheap compared to other museums around the area. You may not know it but perhaps you’ll be able to have additional knowledge on what Australia was like decades ago; good food for the mind.

 

Australian Botanic Gardens Shepparton

The Australian Botanic Gardens Shepparton is a sight of beautiful flowers in the Goulburn Valley. It has beautiful landscapes, valleys, gardens, and natural habitats that you can truly appreciate once you visit Shepparton. You can also have a stroll or bike around the trails, or even go on top of the Honeysuckle Rise for a better view of the wonderful landscape.
