Have you ever been on the verge of making guacamole only to realize that your avocado desperately needed to be ripened?
That can ruin a party real quick, especially because avocados are notoriously slow for ripening… at least that was the case until a little known food hack started to invade the internet.
Chefs all over have known about this food hack for quite some time, but kept it relatively under wraps until it started to make its way through the internet rounds.
Taco Tuesday will never go without guacamole again once you read all about this hot new tip that promises to help you ripen an avocado in 10 minutes or less. To go along with your guac, check this link for free samples of tortilla chips.
Step 1: Grab some tin foil
All you have to do is grab some tin foil out of the cabinet and tightly wrap your unripened avocado in the tin foil.
Step 2: Preheat your oven
Once you’ve wrapped your avocado like it’s the most precious birthday gift on the planet, you stick it into a 200°F (or 93°C) oven for 10 minutes.
Step 3: Wrap your avocado
Once the 10 minutes is up, take it out of the oven and unwrap your now ripened avocado. If you are anything like me, you may assume that it’s going to be warm.
I couldn’t tell you why I originally thought this, but I was delighted to find in my own experimentation that the avocado was still perfectly cool.
Granted, this tip isn’t going to take a rock hard avocado and make it into that perfectly ripened consistency that we all love so much in just 10 minutes, but it will definitely make it edible. That’s all that any of us can really ask for, isn’t it?
Now let’s make some guacamole, pour out a couple of margaritas, and toast to a brand new week. Cheers!
