The Hilton brand needs no introduction. It’s a renowned hotel chain with stunning flagship properties in all major states, and the epitome of luxury accommodation. Hilton Melbourne is no exception, which is why it’s one of my favourite places to stay for special occasions, or when I want to see the city through new eyes with my friends and family who stay there when visiting Melbourne. If you haven’t stayed before or considered a staycation, here is our guide to staying at Hilton Melbourne.
Your own bar on Bourke Street, Melbourne
Hilton Melbourne has its own bar on Bourke Street, Melbourne – and this is going to make any stay so much more decadent. It’s also a fabulous place to start the evening and meet your friends before an evening out. You may even wish to stay here for the evening and admire the stunning decor that The Douglas Club is known for. The incredible mixologists have designed a cocktail list that tickles every sense that you won’t be able to help yourself from taking photos.
We also found that the Douglas club is more than “just a hotel bar“ and it really is a destination in its own right. The decor inspiration takes cues from vintage glamour, and you would be forgiven for thinking you had been transported back an era. Oh, and remember that The Douglas Club is there for a nightcap when you finish your evening out in Melbourne CBD.
Enjoy dinner in
It doesn’t get more convenient than stepping out of your guestroom and heading downstairs for dinner. Hilton Melbourne’s restaurant, Luci, is a stunning setting for dinner and a great way to explore the flavours and seasonal offerings that are unique to Victoria. When we stayed it was easy to just charge dinner back to the room so that we could head out and enjoy the night. The menu was diverse and we were able to order a few entrees and share mains so that we could try it all.
If you love Italian influence – you are in luck. Luci offers modern Australian with an Italian twist to honour the Italian immigrants in Melbourne. The grand hall where the restaurant presides feels so opulent, so don’t miss out on dining in this historical building.
Prime Melbourne location
There are things to see and do in almost every pocket of Melbourne, but you still want to be in the best location so that you are close to attractions and the city’s unique pulse. Hilton Melbourne is perfectly located in Little Queen Street, close to galleries, museums, great restaurants and boutique shopping. Depending on how long your stay is, you really can see it all and the trams are great for transporting you from the top to the bottom of the city, and it’s a great way to get a sense of Melbourne culture. Here are the top things we recommend doing that are close to Hilton Melbourne:
- Dine at the iconic MoVida Aqui
- Do an escape room at Escape Hunt Melbourne
- See what’s happening at Fed Square
- Enjoy some lawn bowls at Flagstaff Gardens
- Watch the sunset over the Yarra River
Explore the Hilton benefits
Becoming a Hilton Honours member is more than any old membership, especially if you like exclusive offers and upgrades. We signed up years ago when staying at another Hilton and it has made travelling a lot easier. We get the best possible prices, can access app booking features and have even used points to go towards reducing a room rate. If you would prefer to just stay without signing up, you can still use the pool, the gym and just spend a day at the hotel getting coffee, a cocktail or relaxing in the room.

Have you stayed at Hilton Melbourne before or any of the other Hilton’s? We would love to know what you think and if there are any other local attractions that we missed on the list. Remember, you don’t have to be a guest to visit The Douglas Club or Luci – so enjoy!
