Preparing for a baby can be hard. Especially if you’re a first-time parent. A baby shower can be just what you need in order to prepare for a baby. If you’re going to invite people to your baby shower you may as well keep your guests entertained with some good baby shower games!
A baby shower can be a fun way to celebrate your new arrival and is also a great excuse to get some much-needed baby gear.
Let’s be honest, baby shower games can sometimes be boring. Fortunately for your sake, we have compiled a list of the most fun and entertaining baby shower games so that your guests won’t be left bored at your baby shower!
Here are 10 baby shower games that will keep your guests entertained at your baby shower:
Baby Price is Right
I’m sure you can guess what this one is. Simply collect 10 pictures of baby items and give guests 10 price tags. All the players need to do is to match the price to the item. The player with the most correct answers wins! You can have a lot of fun with this game and make it feel like a real game show if you’re creative enough.
Make sure you have prizes ready for the winner!
My Water Broke!
This game is very easy to set up. All you need is some mini babies, an ice cube tray and some water. All you need to do is freeze the babies in water overnight and place the ice cubes in guests drinks.
The first person who’s ice melts shouts “ my water broke” and the first person to shout this out wins. You could make this game more challenging by making bigger ice cubes.
Pin the baby on the mum
For this baby shower game, all you need is a cut-out of a baby, some blindfolds and a giant picture of the mum-to-be. Players just need to place the baby on mum’s belly. The player closest to the mum’s tummy wins.
Name That Poop!
This game is pretty gross so hopefully mum has gotten over her morning sickness by the time the baby shower rolls around.
For this game simply melt chocolate bars inside of nappies, and have guests guess which kind of chocolate is in each nappy. The first one who can guess first wins the game.
Don’t Say “Baby”
Not saying the word “baby” at a baby shower is hard!
This baby shower game is as easy as one, two, three. Each guest receives 5 pins. Guests can then take pins from people who say the word “baby.” The guest who has the most pins left at the end of the game wins the prize. This can be a good way to get people talking to people they may not know very well.
Blindfolded Nappy Change Game
Here is another game that’s a lot of fun. First, separate guests from pros to newbie nappy changers. The players then change a dolls nappy blindfolded. The first one to finish in each group wins. Let mum and Dad join in so they can practice before the baby comes.
Guess the Size of mums Waist
For this baby shower game, you only need 2 things. String and scissors. It is so easy and at the same time funny. Let guests take a guess of the mum’s waistline by cutting strings to the length of their guess. The person whose guess is the closest to the exact size brings home the prize.
Tinkle in The Pot
This game requires a bit of energy from your guests. Have them place large balloons under their shirts and ping pong balls between their knees to waddle over to the jars and drop them in. It’s a hilarious game and at the same time gives a little sneak peek on mum’s feelings on her last trimester of pregnancy.
Draw The Baby
This game seems pretty easy to play. Provide each guest with a paper plate and a marker. The plates are placed above the players’ heads. The challenge is to draw a baby on the plate above your head.
The funniest/best drawing wins.
Baby Face
To play this game, have each player bring a baby photo and let each player guess who is in the photo. The guest who gets the most correct answers wins the game.
Gift Registry or not?
The short answer is yes but do not push this on people. You should compile a list of what you need for your baby and only give the list to people if they ask for it. It’s important to not enforce the registry on your guests. You don’t want your guests to think you are only inviting them so that they can buy things for you!
I was once invited to a baby shower where the host asked everyone to spend a minimum of $50 each and to purchase something off of the registry. This actually made a lot of people not want to attend. So, in conclusion, it’s probably best to try to be grateful for anything that you do receive.
How much food should the host provide?
Guests will be more likely to stay longer and stay for the baby shower games if there is food and drinks available.
You don’t need to provide everyone with a full meal but you should have a selection of savoury and sweet snacks to keep guests satisfied:
Some popular food options are:
Charcuterie boards: consisting of cheeses, meats, crackers and dip
Fondue: This can be a fun addition to your shower. You can serve a chocolate fondue alongside some fruit and marshmallows.
Salads: Salads can feed a lot of people. Some good options can be potato salad and fruit salad.
Punch: Non-alcoholic punch is probably your best bet at a baby shower as the host cannot drink.
Mini sandwiches: Make sure you have a variety as everyone’s taste buds are different.
Remember, in order to successfully pull off a baby shower with games, you will need to have everything well planned out. Whatever and whichever game you’ll choose to have in the party, make sure that it encourages everyone to interact as that is where the fun starts. Party favours for everyone would also be a good idea to remind them of the fun moments that happened on that special day.
And most importantly remember to have fun and enjoy your baby shower.
